ESPN College Gameday in Aggieland

Picture from my phone at ESPN College Gameday

Yes, this is a picture from my phone. Yes, it is awesome. No, I did not hit Lee Corso with a spit wad...but I could have.

ESPN College Gameday made its presence known this past Saturday when hundreds of fans gathered at Simpson Drill Field to show their support for the Aggies in their first SEC game. Many made signs (some good, some not so good), but nevertheless, the excitement in the air was undeniable. Several individuals, undoubtedly fueled by pizza and beer, camped out all night, and there were already people leading yells when I arrived at 7 a.m. To have a fan base so excited about their team is truly something special.

As no surprise, out of all the analysts, Lee Corso was the undisputable fan favorite. He came up to the stage, danced a little jig and the crowd went nuts. It was a lot of fun to watch him interact with the fans and it's obvious he loves being around the students and the game day atmosphere. But then again, who wouldn't?

With my super-special media pass, I was able to get up-close and personal to the Gameday set and snap the picture above. It was really cool to see all the behind-the-scenes stuff that you would never catch on television, like when all of the analysts put their hands in and yelled "BREAK!" before the start of the show.

Me, K.O. and Louie chillin in front of the Gameday players...With Samantha Steele photo-bombing in the background.

I don't know when Gameday will be back to Aggieland, but the excitement it brought with it was a "once in a blue moon" kind of feeling. Hopefully, the Ags will give ESPN many more reasons to come back soon. Of course, once Samantha Steele and I get married, I can go to as many of these things as I want... but I'd like them to be in College Station.
